The event takes place as a part of the European project FABULAMUNDI.NEW VOICES, which (re)gives voice and stage space to budding artists aged 16-27. Thanks to European Union funding, participation in the project is free of charge.
A maximum of 10 people will be accepted. The classes are scheduled for two June weekends (14-16.06 and 21-23.06) at the Teatr Dramatyczny.
Drama writing increasingly involves the creation of patchwork compositions, based on documentary material, visual arts, biographies, films, etc. We are surrounded by thousands of information and stimuli, which can also stimulate us to start our own writing journey. But how to overcome the distance from inspiration to idea? How to discover a topic with potential? How to take inspiration from thousands of different languages and create your own? And how to at the same time not to get lost and find the heart and structure of the story?
Join us for a workshop that will be an introduction to the creation of a drama text, where starting point will be external inspirations such as media news, objects, photographs, song lyrics and other snippets of contemporary times.
During the workshop participants will learn different ways of working with source materials and tools that will be useful in their future writing journey. The result of the workshop will be to create own idea for a drama and attempt to write the first scenes, which will lay the foundation for independent development of the text.
Workshop framework: the project will include two weekend sessions at the Dramatic Theater. The first weekend will be devoted to working with inspiration.
Participants will be asked to bring objects/things that interest them and can be a driving force for further work on the text. During this weekend we will work with an exercise method that will be helpful in discovering our own topics.
In this session of the workshop, participants will deepen their own work with material starting materials under the guidance of special guest Stefan Wipplinger, who will conduct his master class.
The second weekend will be devoted to writing and discovering one’s own creative language.
Participants will develop ideas from the first weekend, attempting to write the first scenes on topics of their choice. During this session, an important part of the work will be the ability to use the potential of being part of a group and discovering
that writing doesn’t have to be a solitary process. Participants will learn, among other things, how to constructively give and receive feedback from others, so that it motivatingly influence the process of working on the text.
The final result of the workshop will be the creation by each participant a sketch of the author’s idea for his/her own drama and the writing of the first scenes of the text, which can be a leaven for further creative work of their own creative work. In addition, each participant will receive a set of necessary writing tools, which they will be able to apply in their further artistic journey.
