New Voices meeting in Barcelona

7th – 10th July 2025

Sala Beckett, Barcelona

The time had come for one last gathering. From 7 to 10 July 2025, Sala Beckett in Barcelona hosted the final Fabulamundi New Voices Community Meeting — a joyful celebration of three unforgettable years of creativity, collaboration, and connection. For four vibrant days, we came together to reflect on what we had built and dove into a dynamic programme of encounters, workshops, performances, and conversations — a meaningful conclusion to this edition, and the first step toward new horizons.

In Barcelona, the spotlight was on play and performance. Participants entered the world of Wolves, a one-of-a-kind role-playing experience led by celebrated Catalan playwright Sergi Belbel. We also screened In a New Light, a compelling video series featuring intimate conversations with our New Voices playwrights, created by multidisciplinary artist Héctor Manchego.

A standout moment was a conversation between renowned playwright Martin Crimp and Catalan director Carlota Subirós, exploring the art of writing, theatre-making, and creative exchange. Crimp also led a thought-provoking workshop titled Hamlet: Destruction of the Father?, followed by a lively exchange with emerging European playwrights from the Obrador d’estiu, a cornerstone of Sala Beckett’s artistic and training programme.

We closed the gathering with a collective moment — to imagine, to share, and to begin planting the seeds of what might come next for Fabulamundi.

And from then on, during the day, people wonder who the wolf is…even though wolves know how to camouflage themselves very well.
