One morning Gregor Samsa woke up transformed into a monstrous insect. Starting from one of the world’s most famous literary openings, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, this workshop aims to explore new representations of the concept of awakening through playwriting and stage creation, as a new phase in a global, ecological, and non-anthropocentric metamorphosis. Metamorphic and interspecies narratives are now a vast laboratory of imagination for a future in which we rethink our relationships with all living things.
The workshop, directed by Magdalena Barile with the collaboration of Czech playwright Kateřina Součková, was born in synergy with Accademia Teatrale Carlo Goldoni of Venice where it will take place.
