Time: 24-28 February 2025

In this workshop Stefan Wipplinger will focus on – with his twin partner David Košták – working with students in Berlin and theatre students in Prague on the topic „Immersive Theatre“ – a format David Košták has been working on and experimenting with already for a while with his participating students.

The workshop takes place in Berlin at the SRH University (University of applied Sciences) with a group of  students there. David Košták will join with his group of students in the first days of the workshop, and the group of the SRH students will go to Prague for the last days of the workshop.

Inspired by gaming experience and digital storytelling Immersive Theatre pushes narrative and performative boundaries because spectators and performers mingle – stage and auditorium can merge into 360 degrees sites with spectators being participants as well as players. Thus, the performance can move to other spaces, implementing three-dimensional perspectives.

The tutors will work, among others, on questions like: ‘How does authorship work ?’ and ‘What does texts have to provide for immersive, often site-specific shows?’  The group of students at SRH Uni-versity in Berlin has read beforehand texts created by the students from Czeck Republic generated in the context of their Immersive Theatre work and research.

The SRH students will develop ‘immersive miniatures’ in a creative process-, in the workshop it will be looked into various immersive approaches, multiple ideas are going to be discussed, and  immersive concepts will be developed – designed by the participants themselves.
