Co-funded by the European Union

Duration: 2 weeks
Participants: small group of acting students
Location: CNSAD, National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts
Dates: 5-16 May

The workshop takes place at CNSAD, the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, which is a higher education public institute which belongs to the University of Paris. CNSAD teaches acting, directing, transmission and creative research.
Focused on a small group of acting students, the workshop will help them develop their own writing projects starting from the point of view of the dream: each one has their own, but the dreams will also be shared between participants in order to build the original matter from which they can craft a form.
The workshop involves Jean-Marc Hoolbecq, choreographer and dancer, and also a permanent teacher at the Conservatoire. His contribution will enable the flow of writing to take shape in space and through movement. The workshop therefore takes the form of both collective and individual research into setting in motion an artistic impulse, an exploration of the interaction and complementarity between body and words.
Magdalena Barile will be joining the workshop during the first week. She will be contributing material of her choice, textual and/or visual, based on myths, imaginary creatures and the thinking of Donna Haraway, to question, inspire and nourish the projects to come.
There are no ready-made answers, just driving questions and a conviction shared with Jean-Marc Hoolbecq: nothing on a stage just exists ‘in itself’, everything is a question of relationship, context and necessity of the moment.
