You grab your backpack, walk to the door, walk out of the house, cross the street, you’re at school.
You take your backpack, walk to the door, walk out of the house, suddenly a dragon appears in front of you.
Which of these two situations are more likely to inspire a play?
Almost all dramatic texts are about someone who is prevented from carrying out their plans.
Very often, authors start from a character when writing a play. That is why, during this playwriting workshop, we will build a character from zero, because knowing your characters is vital to good writing.
We will invent a biography, an account on Social Media, find out their most hidden secrets and try to answer all possible questions about them with the help of exercises. Then we’ll get the character to face a difficult situation. She or he will have to get out of it.
The aim of this workshop is to guide the participants towards creating a character far from the realm of stereotypes and clichés.
