At the beginning of the workshop, participants share old photos of women from their families – mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters – and to tell the story of each photo. The participants will chose a real event from the past (it can be related to political events), that happened in their families and fictionalise it. In order to get more information about the specific time period, during documentation they will gather press materials and interview their families in order to find out as much as possible about the topic they want to adress. Together, the group will select the most relevant information and turn it into a monologue or short play. The chosen outcome will be either the monologue of a woman or a short play that focuses on a woman’s story – because theatre needs strong female characters. In the last part of the workshop, the twinned playwright will be invited to discuss the drafts with the participants. At the end of the workshop, there will be a public reading.
